holiday life

Nov is goin to end in a few days time..and the practical work for my fyp is almost done.. left 50% paper work to be done(easy job..can be done in less than 1 month..cannot simply simply do ma) actually after spending nearly 2 months on my fyp.. now i have got nothing much to do.. damn boring also.. and also very pokai now..that makes it more boring.. during the holidays, i resume my previously abandoned "ambition".. that is to be as fit as RAIN.. yes..the korean guy..when i was busy with my fyp..i go to gym( per entry ones coz too poor to pay for those decent 1 with memberships) once in a week.. now that i'm more free..i go to the gym twice a week.. if u ask, any effect? erm..dun see any yet.. but will eventually will see some la..won't so easily give up anymore.. many people told me to take those protein drinks.. but i hesitated, coz i'm not sure whether it will have any side effect.. so, i take eggs and fresh milk instead..(but not so crazy to take 8 eggs per day as told la.. gila meh..) the gym i went is quite okla.. but abit stink with sweat lo.. and every machine oni got 1 set lo.. need to wait awhile sometimes.. other than that, everything is ok..the people there are very friendly oso..since i'm new, i dun really know how to use some of those machines..they will very helpfully explain to me.. then now, dun need their help edi..edi pro..(joking la..everytime go oso use the few machine oni, sure pro lo)..

the "hell" machine

alrite..y did i name the machine as "hell" machine? its not because it tortures me alot.. i can adjust the weight on the barbell.. but this evil machine is damn powerful.. wats so powerful???

ok..let me story tell abit..everytime i go to gym..i will work out for 1- 1 1/2 hour.. which is quite normal.. but at those time.. i dun train with this "hell" machine..and after some time, i tried using this "hell" machine.. i will feel extremely dizzy and feel like puking.. the feeling is exactly the same with when i'm getting drunk and can't manage to vomit..that kind of feeling.. therefore, i will oni stay there for less than 1/2 an hour and left..that is inclusive of sitting at the stairs leading to the gym for 10 minutes before i'm good enough to walk.. damn powerful rite? now i realize y nobody is using it except me.. haiz..newcomer..jadi mangsa pulak.. i never use it anymore..and i manage to work out for 1 - 1 1/2 hour again.. such a powerful "hell" machine.. can make u feel like dying for 10 minutes( when i'm resting at the stairs)..o ya..din tel y i feel like puking..there is oni 1 reason.. the "hell" machine is damn smelly(sweat smell..like it has not been cleaned for centuries.. at least spray some air refresher la..) then..after doing 1 set (15times) of weight lifting.. my face will turn pale due to lack of oxygen/fresh air.. dangerous la this machine..i never go near it ever since i tried it twice..

the entrance fee for this gym is rm4 per entrance.. quite cheap lo..suitable for poor kids like me..so far, i've "invested" rm 28 on gym..that is exclusive of those eggs and fresh milk..haiz..but still nothing..no effect at all.. by the way.. any1 saw RAIN's body recently.. he is more fit than ever after filming "Ninja Assassin".. its now more difficult to achive his type of body edi.. maybe should change to other not so fit artist.. need to browse the internet..

and other than going to gym.. i did some reading also.. to be honest, i love reading..(but not text book).. i prefer fiction..especially classics novel..

1st ever classics novel that i read

this novel was actually a birthday gift from my then "special some1"(form 5).. but this copy over here i bought it myself.. i've return the original copy to that "ex special some1" due to some quarrel i think.. (i returned everything she gave me..quite vain hor..shouldn't have did that..) i bought this book a few months after that..quite lame rite..watever la.. ever since, i read quite a number of classics novel.. especially those by jane austen.. i think i fancy those novels written by female writers than the male..even the novel above is written by a women Mary Ann Evans ( George Elliot is oni her pen name.. at those time, guys in britain is quite sexist.. so she use a guy name instead) i find that i dun really enjoy reading classics novel written by the guys..i dun really understand them and i dun really get wat the story is trying to tell..

classics novel by jane austen

all the classics novel that i have are published by "penguin popular classics".. all the novels cost rm8.50 each no matter how thick or thin it is.. cheap rite.. the most important thing is, this book is printed on 100% recycled papers.. dun need to chop trees to print these.. actually i'm finding 1 final novel by jane austen titled " sense and sensibility".. actually i found 1 edi but it cost rm15 just because of the fancy cover.. so gonna search for the 1 published by " penguin popular classics" which cost oni rm 8.50.. i'm not sure how long ago, i read an article about a modern day novel by Haruki Murakami titled Norwegian Wood.. and while shopping at Times Square.. i went to Borders and bought it..

this author is quite good..he is a guy and yet i understand wat he write and wat he is trying to explain..basically, its a love story kind of novel.. somehow like a diary.. its 1 of the thickest novel i've ever read..but yet, i managed to finish it in a relatively short time..its very interesting..but my personal view is, its more suitable for male readers.. most of the things he wrote are somehow related to guys.. and also it contain some sex content oso..but not very bad la..i think its very normal.. he is being very honest in his writing.. and now that i have finished all the novels that i have.. i'm rotting in my room most of the time.. must find something to do edi.. maybe complete my paper work for my fyp.. then next sem can really relax..

fashioneering

ok..some might ask wat is fashioneering.. i dun think there is any such word..just simply put a title coz this post is somehow related to engineering and fashion..(i dun know about fashion at all, just copy and paste from somewhere..) just a few days ago, i read some article about fashion..but i will just talk about some of the things that caught my attention.. one of it is the DKNY cozy scarf.. it is quite an interesting product coz by using oni 1 simple cloth, u can wear it to anywhere u 1 by just folding it in different ways.. if the price is not too exp..it is quite a good "investment"..can save money buying other apparels..

just in case u r interested with this thing or u guys are thinking of buying this for ur mum or gf or the opposite sex(women obviously) just visit http://www.dkny.com/nshop/product.php?view=listing&section=womens&category=apparel&groupName=TheCozy . they is also a short video demonstrating how to wear it in different ways.. ok..some of u might ask wat is this related to engineering anyway..erm..at least this thing is practical, wearable and the most important thing is its an ingenious design..to me..usually those fashion items are not really wearable nor practical..they are designed to impress but not to be practical.. donna karan really impressed me with this piece.. maybe she studied engineering before taking fashion design courses..hehe..

after talking about dkny cozy... lets talk abit about ZARA.. i'm gonna emphasize on their operations rather than their design( i am not competent to say anything about that)..1st of all, do u know that in ZARA, each store manager is provided with a PDA that enabled them to directly communicate with the product manager at the HQ.. this is somehow something like concurrent engineering.. its more effective and new designs that is wanted by customers can be designed and delivered in a relatively short time.. within 2 weeks, the new design that has been communicated can be found in the store..super fast.. those designer sure very stress working here.. on the other hand, in order to reduce the inventory cost.. each store will oni be provided with limited stock at a time coz they can reorder it in 2 weeks time..they place orders every 2 weeks.. other than saving inventory cost.. it has something to do with psychology too.. when every item is limited..it will make u feel as if that particular item is so special and treated it as some limited edition item..although the items sold in this outlet is not really exp compared to other brands..they will always place a store in those high class or luxury areas so that the consumers will feel like they are buying some very high class stuffs..

and finally, this is the the watch section.. the first ever women wristwatch was introduced by "Patek Philippe"(a brand name)..this is not impressive to me as they oni add the straps on..but this watch below is extremely impressive..

the Calibre 89

ok wats so great about this old fashioned watch.. its simply because its one of the most complicated mechanical watches ever made( reminder, not digital but mechanical system).. it has 33 indicators on it.. wat u can see from it is:

1) date of Easter

2) a thermometer

3)time of sunrise

4)equation of time and sidereal time

5)able to add a day to February for leap years

and maybe many other that i didn't know..impressed? i sure do..

The deadline is approaching..

its already the mid of november, there is not many things left to be done for my fyp.. if everything goes well and hopefully i can finish the practical jobs in this 2 weeks time, or else my plan of doing nothing in the month of dec will be ruined.. but those work that are undone are those "chalenging" ones.. actually all the problems that i'm facing are mainly due to the extremely tight budget.. many problems can be solved with money.. this is so true for my situation now..as i have said before.. my budget was only Rm 1500.. but after doing some rough calculation..by oni manufacturing the base of the machine edi cost me more than Rm 2000.. that haven't include the mechanical and electronic parts which will cost me another Rm 1000+ i think.. some of my fellow Utarian might ask y dun i ask the technician to manufacture it in the workshop..that is free of charge.. haiz..as if i'm so stupid and ignorant..i edi went to the workshop and shown the draft to the technician..out of 28 pieces of the things i need to manufacture, he says that oni 7 pieces of it can be manufactured in the workshop coz the machine in the workshop can't make those advanced curve and so on.. which simply means i need to send those remaining to the manufacturer from outside Utar which also means alot to be spent on that..

haiz..enough of complaining.. talk about the surveying/quaotation trip with the technician to jln ipoh and jln kuching on last wednesday..before this, i never went to these places.. these places are relatively important to engineering students..many things can be found here( for final year project etc..) at 1st went to a shop called "advanced bolts & fasteners sdn bhd" that is located at jln ipoh.. since i need to get the quotation for many types of fasteners that are very rare in M'sia..the technician brought me here coz he says that i can find everything related to bolts and fasteners here..if i can't find it here, i won't get it elsewhere in M'sia..thats good..can save my time travelling to other places..i printed a list for them so that they can send me a quatation for it.. but, i'm quite upset tat even they themself dun supply some of the items i needed..but get the majority of them though..its relatively cheap also..

then we went to jln kuching to search for a shop selling many mechanical parts especially bearings.. and through this shop also we found another factory nearby that manufacture gears.. but since i'm a 1st timer..i din provide a drawing for them and get scolding from the boss who is an uncle.. the factory is located in a very dirty area..there are alot of factories there..the place looks like a warzone..really..so hot, dirty, alot of huge holes on the muddy road..just that dun have any tanks parking there..

and, i would like to say that the technician that brought me there is very kind and helpful too.. he keep on telling those people to quote me cheaper coz i'm a student etc.. he is an old uncle actually..he used to work in Texas Instruments til he retire.. after retire, he works in Utar workshop.. most of the time, we are walking a distance to reach another shop or factory, and the weather is quite bad.. very hot..i walk slightly faster than himself and keep on looking behind me coz i'm afraid he might fall or trip while walking.. and i think he realize that, he suddenly told me not to feel guilty coz this is a very good exercise for him.. he is sweating like hell..he says that he has got diabetes and can't remember edi.. although its a good exercise for him.. i know he doesn't have the stamina.. he smoked twice, one while on the way to and another 1 on the way fro..

ps: i myself can sense that this post is damn boring.. while typing also i feel like sleeping edi.. but just post oni la.. at least got something to post.. if not, i will feel as if i have abandoned this blog..hehe..

Tiring holiday

Its been more than a month since i started holiday..but except the genting trip with coursemates after the final exams..i din really enjoy myself..everyday spend more than 6 hours doing CAD for my fyp..so tiring..but, at last, its almost done..now left some simulation which i'm yet to learn.. and surveying for prices of the electronic and mechanical components needed for my project.. after surveying at jalan pasar oni i know that some of the components can't get from M'sia..die lo..that means need to buy on9 from US...sure damn expensive 1..i'm worry that it will over budget.. i knew the budgeting is gonna be tough..the original design requires USD 2000+.. and i need to reduce it to at most Rm1500.. big difference le.. haiz.. stress la.. actually i'm not really good at electronics.. although i have the list for the components needed, i'm having difficulty to answer the questions from the salespeople such as what spec of limit switch do i 1... inside the glass cabinet, there are alot and looks so similar that i can't differentiate which is which..felt so stupid at that moment..i should have went there with a friend who is studying Electrical and Electronic Engineering..might help alot..

However, this is what i did recently.. since my super "high" quality Mykad has been split into 2 pieces(front and back separated, coz they use glue oni), i went to the Registration Department to replace it.. out of my expectation..the process is quite fast..it takes oni 15 minutes for the whole process of waiting for them to call out my number and take my photo(but need to wait for at least 10 days to collect the new Mykad la..) Not too long ago, most of the newspapers are highlighting news regarding old people who dun have an identity card or not holding a blue 1.. since i dun need to struggle like them..i din really appreciate it until i read those news.. few months back, one of my friend opened my wallet and ask me which card in it is the most important to me.. i gave him a few answer except Mykad..he then tel me the importance of it..without it, i'm nobody..or u can termed me as "pendatang asing"..so true..din think of it before..

Other than that, i also heard that there are some cases where the info in the chip of the Mykad might be wrong especially the "religion"..omg..and since i'm going to the Registration Department to collect my Mykad, i asked the staff to check the info in my Mykad.. he is very willing to do it for me and even printed out the info for me..

While on the other hand, i made an appointment to see my fyp supervisor on last tuesday..we suppose to meet at 10.10am..but end up..he din show up..i waited for him outside his office for almost an hour..

waiting with hope everytime the lift door opens..

the lift door open and closed for so many times throughout that 1 hour..but still he doesn't appear..then i decide not to wait anymore since he din even pick up his hp when the admin staff called him.. i went to the workshop to see mr kho(UTAR senior technician) to show him the drafting that i have done.. at first, i'm very worry coz i spend alot of time doing it but it still looks quite messy..i'm afraid that he might not understand it.. to my surprize..he says that everything is ok..the drafting is ok..wow..damn excited..dun need to redo..hehe..

anyhow..there are still alot of things left to be done for my fyp.. but at least the tough ones are nearly done la..relieve~~
